Weird wildlife.

Damn. Joan has had a heart attack.

'Mad Joan', as we affectionately call her. This is the woman whose husband died last... october or so. Married for 60 years. They were married on the day after the end of the war. She's always been moderately loopy, but in an admirable sort of way. She's nice, one of the few old women that I'm not convinced is secretly out to kill me.

She's tough though, so fingers crossed.

Uhm. Last nights weirdness I suppose, while I have the time.

When I was driving through to Crieff, there was a hawk that appeared from somewhere behind and above me, and flew ahead of the car for a few heartbeats. Which was pretty cool. But then on the way home again, in the wee small hours of the morning. There were further weird encounters. Three owls, at various points of the journey. Including one that flew right alongside my side window for, again, only a few heartbeats. But there it was, this white shape beating out of the corner of my eye.

And a cat, on the outside of a bend in the village. That sat there, and watched me as I drove past. Now, usually it's not unusual, cats will sit and watch cars drive past. But this one was unusual, because it was watching ~me~ and not the car. Was the distinct feeling that I had.

And, the feeling I had of the whole experiance, driving home last night, was that I was being, almost sort of hand-held on the way home. Like, the animals were taking turns to watch me back. Handing me on to the next. Heh. And this way doth paranoia lie no doubt. 'The owls! They're watching me! They are not as they seem!'

I suppose feelings like this one make more sense at 2am.

Oh, and also three corners from home, a faun leapt out in front of the car. And I had to emergency stop on a corner on slippery wet road conditions. Luckily I managed to miss it, and not throw the car off the road in the process.

But, it was very unusual to have six such odd encounters with wildlife like that. Normally I would expect one maybe. An owl. A hawk. A cat. A deer. But not like, six all in one evening.

Ah. And father has spent the morning trying to call the hospital about some urgent appointment thing which yes, would be another one of those things that nobody has told me about. Joy.

EDIT. (Snipped out the whinging.)

Anyway, that's cup of tea number five of the morning. And I'm maybe conscious enough to get up and start doing some of the shit I have to get done today. I'm particularly looking forward to moving the huge pile of timber full of rusty nails. That should be good for a pint or two of blood loss.

You really do have no shame.

One of the things that drives me completely bugfuck crazy about my own family is their tendancy not to talk about important things. I will find out about massive events weeks and months after the event. As a minor example my uncle had apparently been an expert hypnotist for about eight years before anyone else in the family found out... hmmm, or were we just made to think that.

But seriously, it is so fucking annoying when serious stuff is going on and nobody will fucking talk about it.

So I see where you are coming from there.

As for the wildlife, that sounds pretty cool.

Oh yes, very annoying. And, okay, I can understand why it happens. It's mind-numbingly difficult to talk about these sorts of things. And in families, patterns develop. But still.

Ach. I wouldn't know what to do if my family started talking about stuff.

It is perfectly understanable, it is just something that particularly bugs me. Probably because my family assumes that everyone knows what is going on without anyone ever talking about it.

But on the plus side, this lacking in my family, could be one of the things that impelled me to connect more strongly to friends instead.
